AID and ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Cove Food Bank Board, after three years of operation providing food and other necessities as well as spiritual and emotional support to persons and families in need, became aware of another area of lack that they felt needed to be addressed

The Aid and Assistance program was initiated to fill this void. The program was started to assist people with emergency and short term financial assistance. A family might have found a house to rent but not be able to meet the first and last month’s rental requirements. The Aid and Assistance could help with the last month’s rent. Someone might be about to have their power turned off because of an emergency. The Aid and Assistance could help pay the power utility bill. A car might break down interrupting a person’s ability to get to work. Aid and Assistance could assist with auto repairs. These are a few examples of the many situations affecting the lower income sector.

Each applicant must fill out an Aid and Assistant application form and have an interview with one of our Cove workers. If the applicant is qualified, the worker can authorize up to $150 in aid. A small additional amount may be available with Board approval.

Applications for financial assistance are available out side the Cove building.

The Aid and Assistance program has its own Board and officers. Glenn Schmekel chairs this board.

All funds used are from grants and donations. Many people have been assisted and blessed by this new program over the last two years.
